During the Dragon Boat Festival in 2012, the “Meet in Hunan” organised by the Yunfest took place in a village called Ximaojiayachang in Yueyang, Hunan province. During the meeting, some filmmakers advocated the founding of the journal Film Auteur in order to create a platform for communication. The journal aims to present filmmakers’ experience and thoughts, and facilitate dialogues among them, generate discourses and advocate practical rationality in a variety of convenient ways. The main purpose is to facilitate communication and information exchange. All editorial members work voluntarily and no fee is paid for contributions to the journal. A small number of hard copies of each issue is available for paid collection by institutions and individuals in need.
