The Universe Cotton is a pseudoscientific narration of life on a cotton plantation. The protagonist waters the cotton with music and love and the plants grow so tall that the touch the sky. The harvest is transformed into cotton candy and floats back down to earth to the delight of children below.

26-year-old Lei Lei is an up-and-coming multimedia Chinese animation artist working with graphic design, illustration, short cartoon, graffiti and music. In 2009 he received a Master's degree in animation from Tsinghua University. In 2010, his film This is Love was shown at the Ottawa International Animation Festival and was named the 2010 Best Narrative Short. In 2013 his film Recycled was selected by the Annecy festival and also won the Grand Prix shorts (non-narrative) at the Holland International Animation Film Festival.
